Petitions were filed. Briefs were submitted. The great paper exchange has concluded. Anyone wanting to read over the extensive paper trail can do so at Pileggi’s Redistricting Updates.
The appeals represent parties from Allegheny, Beaver, Berks, Bucks, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Delaware, Fayette, Lehigh, Montgomery, Philadelphia, Washington, Westmoreland Counties and even more. That’s over 14 counties from all accross the state!
Tomorrow, each of the 13 petitioners (or their counsel) will have an opportunity to present their case in person before the justices. The proceedings will be aired live on PCN, starting at 9:30. The first case on the docket is Voter ID, followed by the 13 redistricting appeals.
I am very grateful to the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia and Hogan Lovells for arguing this case on my behalf and the behalf of my fellow petitioners. They are an amazing team!
Redistricting is an issue that affects every Pennsylvanian. It is the voice of each person that matters. It is this voice that the constitution is designed to protect from dilution. Our constitution must not be compromised.
Thanks to all who are following this important issue. Stay tuned!
